This is more complicated than you might think. Yes, of course, doing timed papers is a part of this. But there is much more to think about. Do you start at the front of the exam paper and work through to the last question? Many students do, but it's not great. Think about it - as you work through the paper, the questions get increasingly difficult, and are worth more marks because of this. However, at the same time, you are slowly becoming more tired. So, with this approach, you leave the questions worth the most marks until you are not working at your best! Doesn't sound great does it?
